Earth – Our Unique and Precious Home

Image
Earth is the only known planet in the universe that supports life. It is a vibrant world filled with water, air, land, and an incredible variety of life forms. From vast oceans to towering mountains, from dense forests to bustling cities, Earth is as dynamic as it is beautiful. A Planet Full of Life  What makes Earth so special is its ability to support life. It has the perfect distance from the Sun, known as the "Goldilocks zone", where temperatures are just right — not too hot, not too cold. The presence of liquid water, oxygen-rich atmosphere, and a magnetic field to protect from harmful solar radiation makes life possible here. No other planet, as far as we know, offers these perfect conditions. Earth's Structure Earth is made up of several layers:  Crust: The outermost layer where we live. It includes continents and ocean floors. Mantle: A thick, semi-solid layer that moves slowly and causes earthquakes and volcanic activity. Core: The inner part made mostly of iron...

Following the decline of the Indus Valley, the Vedic Age emerged. The Vedas, ancient sacred texts, were composed during this time, laying the foundation of Hindu philosophy, language (Sanskrit), and rituals. Rise of Great Empires    Several powerful empires shaped India's historical journey: The Maurya Empire (322–185 BCE), under Ashoka the Great, spread Buddhism across Asia and promoted non-violence and welfare. The Gupta Empire (4th to 6th century CE) is considered the Golden Age of India, with immense progress in science, mathematics (like the concept of zero), literature, and art. Later came the Chola Dynasty in the south, known for maritime trade and magnificent temple ar...

1961 war

The 1961 Goa Liberation: India's Peaceful Might Turns Decisive In December 1961, India took a bold step to complete its decolonization by liberating Goa, Daman, and Diu from Portuguese rule. This operation marked a significant turning point in India's post-independence history, showcasing a shift from diplomatic patience to decisive military action. Background: Colonial Rule in a Free India Even after India gained independence in 1947, Portugal continued to hold onto its colonies on the western coast — Goa, Daman, and Diu. Unlike the British, the Portuguese refused to negotiate or give up control. India made several diplomatic attempts through peaceful talks and international appeals, but Portugal remained firm. This growing frustration reached a boiling point as pro-liberation movements within Goa were met with harsh repression. The Indian government, led by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, finally decided that military action was the only remaining option. Operation Vijay: A...
